DreamSpring’s Maker MasterMind series is a monthly conversation featuring creative entrepreneurs who are building businesses, creating art, and making an impact. Presented as part of our DreamCreative initiative for creative small businesses, this virtual series offers personal stories and practical advice to entrepreneurs in the creative industries.
This February, join us in conversation with Miguel A. Briones — an award-winning educator, community organizer, public speaker, and self-published author and illustrator of bilingual children’s books. Miguel will talk about how he turned his passion for storytelling into his livelihood, and share how he uplifts Chicano, Hispanic, and Latino voices through his work. |

Meet Miguel A. Briones
Miguel A. Briones grew up in Central El Paso, Texas, where his childhood experiences shaped the stories and cultural themes in his books. His debut work, Como Mi Padrino, earned an Honorable Mention Award from the International Latino Book Awards for Best Latino-Themed Young Adult (YA) Book of 2023. His follow-up, Macho No Machismo, has gained widespread recognition and is part of over 30 libraries across Texas.
When not writing or illustrating, Miguel volunteers with community organizations, writes music, and works to inspire future generations through storytelling. His work celebrates the voices and stories of Chicano, Hispanic, and Latino cultures.
Don’t miss this chance to learn from Miguel’s journey as a creative entrepreneur and community leader! Save a spot at our Feb. 20 Maker MasterMind session.
