SCBWI Work-In-Progress Award
The Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Work-In-Progress (WIP) Award supports children's book writers and illustrators in completing a specific project not yet under contract. Awards are given in categories including Picture Book Text, Chapter Books/Early Readers, Middle Grade, Young Adult Fiction, Nonfiction, and Underrepresented Fiction or Nonfiction. The Karen Cushman Late Bloomer Award supports unpublished children’s book authors and author-illustrators over the age of 50. The award grants $500 and free tuition to any Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) conference worldwide. Applicants must be current SCBWI members and may not have been traditionally published or under contract in the children’s book field. |

PAC NYC The Democracy Cycle
The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) and Galvan Initiatives have launched The Democracy Cycle, a commissioning program to support new works exploring the themes of democracy. Artists in theater, dance, music, opera, and multi-disciplinary performance are invited to submit proposals. Each awarded project will receive $60,000 in support, including a $30,000 commission and an additional $30,000 for development (research, readings, workshops, etc.).
