Talena Acon
Founder of Indie Is The New Major in Kansas City, Kansas
As a serial entrepreneur and self-proclaimed “vibrant innovator,” Talena Acon melds her passions and expertise through Indie Is The New Major, her music administration company. Talena produces, markets, and manages emerging creatives within her small business. She also serves as a songwriter and recording artist, using Indie Is The New Major to oversee the business components of her personal musical career across multiple genres.
Album tracks that Talena produced and recorded are widely available on streaming services like Pandora, Apple Music, and Spotify. But when the pandemic shuttered concert venues and promotional tours, Talena’s business and livelihood hung in the balance. She secured a Paycheck Protection Program loan from DreamSpring, enabling her to support herself and her children until the industry rebounded.
Talena is back to dreaming big, expanding her music business into publishing and film production. She also returned to DreamSpring for a flexible line of credit to fund her new ventures.
She hopes her entrepreneurial success will inspire others, sparking “impact growth and empowerment in urban networks.”
