Maria Muenalaflores
Owner of Kichwa's Souvenirs, Arts and Crafts in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Maria Muenalaflores has been weaving the beauty of Ecuadorian-style crafts, art, and jewelry into the Southwest arts scene since 2013 through her business, Kichwa's Souvenirs, Arts and Crafts. In collaboration with designer Marcelino Peralta, Kichwa's work is a fixture at bustling art fairs across New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado.
The Kichwa creative team specializes in custom leather bracelets, belts, and watchbands — oftentimes inlaid with turquoise and other precious stones — as well as intricate beadwork. Their offerings also include colorful statement necklaces and earrings made with Tagua seed and leather cord. Every item is handmade.
Maria is a four-time DreamSpring client whose business has been supported by microloans ranging from $2,365 to $16,175. This working capital has helped her expand her business and maintain operations over the years, including launching an online store on Etsy. With access to funds and DreamSpring in her corner, Maria can continue sharing the artistic heritage of Ecuador with every corner of the Southwestern United States.
