Gian Mercurio
Owner of Lonewolf Publishing in Cortez, Colorado
Gian Mercurio is the publisher of Lonewolf Publishing. Her business specializes in guidebooks that explore national and state parks and monuments, with a focus on the ancestral Puebloan cultures of the Four Corners region — conveniently located at the doorstep of her Cortez, Colorado, homebase.
Under the Lonewolf imprint, Gian has authored several books including Mesa Verde: A Complete Guide; The Guide to Trading Posts and Pueblos; and the Native American Historical Calendar. In addition to written materials and products tailored for national parks enthusiasts, Gian gives lectures on ancestral Puebloan people.
Gian's foray into publishing is a labor of love, extending from years spent as a park ranger at national parks spanning from Alaska to New Mexico. Natural disasters and disease are frequent themes in her decades of anthropological study. Even so, nothing could prepare her for experiencing a pandemic herself. With speaking engagements on hold, Gian turned to DreamSpring to support her business.
"DreamSpring helped me access money during the difficult times of COVID with ease and speed," she says of her Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, adding that she’s received business capital from DreamSpring on two occasions.
"Both times the person I worked with was knowledgeable about my business and needs,” she says. “I have enjoyed and benefited from all my interactions with DreamSpring."
With Lonewolf’s legacy safeguarded, Gian can focus on promoting and preserving the breathtaking landscape, historical treasures, and cultural heritage of the mesa.
