DreamSpring’s Community Engagement team connected partners, entrepreneurs, and resources at Houston entrepreneurship event.
DreamSpring recently hosted an in-person technical assistance and bridge-and-bond session at The Cannon, a co-working space in West Houston. Designed to help underrepresented business owners build their entrepreneurial networks, access capital, and link to local resources, the “Spring Into Your Dreams!” event welcomed attendees across the community, including economic development experts, small business support organizations, and financial institutions.
The session began with a networking session, empowering small business owners to build substantive relationships with industry professionals.
"Connecting entrepreneurs with resources is a key component of our small business success strategy,” says Shaundra Jacobs, DreamSpring Community Engagement Officer. “By creating a one-stop shop, small business owners can access peers, partners, resources, and growth opportunities. We want to design an environment where entrepreneurs can be their authentic selves and unlock new opportunities.”

Following the interactive portion, DreamSpring and local entrepreneurs shared details about how to pivot and achieve success along their small business journeys. An engaging panel of entrepreneurs — including veteran entrepreneur Daphne Perry — provided their personal testimonies and insights. Shaundra Jacobs offered guidance for every stage of the entrepreneurial journey in her “Mapping Your Way to Business Success” presentation. Local vendors for the event included Lucy Pearls bakery, Angelique’s Sweets (who whipped up custom DreamSpring sugar cookies for attendees), and Healthy Fix Nutrition. Partners in attendance included Bank of Texas and Amegy Bank. Entrepreneurs received tours of The Cannon and also met with DreamSpring’s Texas lending team. |
